Partnership with the National Commission for Combating Human Trafficking at the International Conference on February 6, 2025.

Foundation for Access to Rights (FAR) participated in the international conference "Human Trafficking: The Path of Labor Migration – Traps and Opportunities for Third-Country Nationals".

The event, organized by the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and International Justice Mission (IJM) Romania, focused on the following topics:

  • European and national labor migration policies
  • Employment challenges for third-country nationals
  • The mechanisms for combating human trafficking and labor exploitation

Our activity coordinator Maria Netsova presented FAR's work on:

  • Increasing awareness and access to rights for refugees and migrants through Refugeelight.bg
  • Support for their professional realization through Migrantlife.bg – a specialized platform connecting employers and job-seeking foreigners

The discussions outlined key challenges and opportunities for improving policies in the field of labor migration and the fight against human trafficking, including the need for legislative changes in the context of the upcoming review of the National Migration Strategy (2021–2025) and the drafting of a new strategic framework.

Among the participants were: Mr. Atanas Zafirov (Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings), representatives of the European Commission, Council of Europe, OSCE – The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, European Labour Authority, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Trafficking in Debt and Modern Slavery of the UK Parliament, Romanian National Agency Against Trafficking in Persons (ANITP), Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, District Prosecutor's Office – Pleven, State Agency „National Security“, Employment Agency, IOM Bulgaria, State Agency for Refugees, Dignita Foundation, CITUB, Faculty of Economics, SOS Families at Risk Foundation, A21 Bulgaria, Animus Association Foundation, Foundation for Access to Rights FAR, Bulgarian Foundation for Business and Human Rights, Bulgarian Industrial Association, and others.

Together we are working for better protection of migrants' rights and the fight against human trafficking.
